A two-month festival is set to begin next month to provide events and activities the over-50s.
The Full of Life festival will take place across East Sussex in September and October to mark the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons on October 1.
The aim of the event is to provide opportunities for people over the age of 50 who may need help getting out and about in the community.

These activities, which are a mix of paid-for and free events, include tech tutorials, quizzes, and lunch clubs to film screenings, craft workshops, and singalongs, as well as events for people with dementia.
The festival will also have activities to encourage healthy ageing such as chair yoga, ear health and sleep workshops, ‘Functional Fit’ MOTs, and one to one Life Transitions sessions to help individuals plan for the future.
Many of the events have been organised by East Sussex Seniors’ Association senior forum groups which, as well as holding social events and offering help and advice to older people, provide a collective voice for the over 50s across the county.
The festival is supported by East Sussex County Council, East Sussex Seniors’ Association, and the NHS, in partnership with leisure centres, councils, charities, and community and voluntary organisations.
People can view the full programme and find out more information about events taking place in their area at www.eastsussex.gov.uk/olderpeoplesday.
Lin Neeve, chairwoman of East Sussex Seniors’ Association, said: “This year’s Full of Life festival offers something for everyone.
“With more older people living in East Sussex than ever before, keeping physically, emotionally and socially active is a great way to stay happy, healthy and connected.
“I encourage all our older residents to see what’s on offer this year. Find something you would like to attend, come along and enjoy!”
Activities are taking place in locations countywide including Bexhill, Crowborough, Eastbourne, Forest Row, Hailsham, Hastings, Lewes, Rye, Seaford and Uckfield.
Councillor Carl Maynard, East Sussex County Council’s lead member for adult social care and health, said: “I am delighted the council is supporting the Full of Life festival once again.
“This year’s programme of events highlights the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, with an emphasis on brain health and staying connected.
“I hope our older residents take part and enjoy as many of the activities and events as possible during September and October.”
