A planning application for over 100 homes has been submitted amidst wide discontent from residents in the area .

Gleeson Land has submitted an application to build a development at Land west of Bewley Road, Angmering  to construct up to 190 residential dwellings, including up to 57 affordable homes, and a community building.

The community building will be specifically designated to Cancer United, a local Angmering-based charity.

Earlier this month The Argus reported on residents in Angmering village forming a new action group, Protect Farmland West of Bowley Road, to try and stop any new developments being planned.

Lucy Todd who is leading the new group had told us:” In Angmering, we are overwhelmed with developments.

“One of the main things is the medical centre seems to be really stretched.

The group was made up of around 20 core members to begin with and  are hoping to recruit more residents to the cause.

After the announcement of the planning application being submitted a meeting was set-up by concerned residents, meeting on the corner of Palmer Road Recreation Ground to campaign against the development.

Arun District Council said:” We are aware that these proposals have generated a lot of local interest and we ask that any correspondence to the council be submitted via the online portal.

“That way, your submission will be acknowledged and you will be kept informed of the progress of the application.”
