Fire crews battled to contain a blaze in shipping containers on a building site in the early hours of the morning.
Two shipping containers caught fire shortly after midnight this morning.
Fire crews urged residents to avoid the area as four engines fought to contain the blaze on a building site in Stone Cross near Eastbourne.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 12.32 am on August 17 to reports of two shipping containers alight at Stone Cross.
“As of 1.20 am, four fire engines were at the scene on Hailsham Road near Funnell Drive.

“The containers are on a building site.
“There are no reports of injuries. Crews are using four breathing apparatus and two main jets.”
The fire response was quickly scaled down and the scene has now been handed over to security teams.
Sussex Police were also seen liaising with fire crews at the scene as smoke billowed from the shipping containers.
The force has been approached for comment.
