A council spokesman said: "With increased challenging behaviour in the area at the moment, we would like to remind you to report all incidents to Sussex Police by calling 101 or if it is an emergency call 999.
"We have had reports of members of the traveller community door knocking and asking for trade. Please ensure that when employing tradespeople you check their credentials and look for reviews of their past work.
"Check on more vulnerable members of your family, friends or neighbours or those that may not be connected digitally to share this message.
"Rest assured that council employees will not knock at your door and suggest they do work for you in exchange for cash."
Last week, multiple caravans and motorhomes were spotted parked in The Greensward, Littlehampton.
This was shortly after police were called to The Wave leisure centre in Littlehampton after caravans were seen parked in disabled parking bays.
