Police have released three men they held after another man was killed in a crash.

The 25-year-old man died in the serious incident on the A23 near Bolney on Saturday at around 10.10pm.

The road was closed southbound for around 12 hours while police investigated.

Motorists heading to the Sussex coast from the capital faced a 40-mile diversion while the road was closed between Pease Pottage and Bolney.

Three 25-year-old men from London were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police have now confirmed two have been released without charge and the third man has been released on conditional bail.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were at the scene of the single vehicle crash involving a Silver Audi A3. 

The man was treated at the scene, but was pronounced dead a short while later. His family have been informed.

A force spokesman said: "Enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances of the collision and we ask those who may have seen the car driving prior to the incident, or who witnessed the collision, to contact police.
