A man has been charged after protesters swarmed the city centre amid fears of rioting.
Ian Ward, 53, has been charged with affray, assaulting an emergency worker and common assault following the mass gathering in Queen's Road, Brighton, on Wednesday.
He will appear in court today.
Ward, of Old Mill Close in Portslade, was identified by Sussex Police after the event on August 7, a spokesman for the force said.
He was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning and has since been remanded in custody.
He will appear at Crawley Magistrates Court later today.
Sussex Police previously said that just one arrest was made at the event and the person was subsequently de-arrested.
Hundreds of counter protesters crammed into Queen's Road and were separated from a small group of suspected right wing protesters by a double line of police officers.
The small group of men, heavily outnumbered by counter-protesters, were bundled into a police van and away from the scene.
The unrest came after far right rioting in other parts of the UK following the fatal stabbing of three little girls in Southport.
