Crowds flocked to the beach to make the most of a beautiful day.
The mercury reached 22C in Brighton today and strong winds from earlier in the week have dropped off.
In the direct sun on the beach it felt much warmer and despite cloud the UV index was high. The Met Office recommends beachgoers seek shade during midday hours, cover up and wear sunscreen during these conditions.

Locals and tourists alike have celebrated the sun with paddling and sunbathing after a lacklustre start to this summer.
People also made the most of the city's wide range of seafront dining options, sitting on terraces at bars on the beach to enjoy a drink or two.
Brighton and Hove City Council's lifeguard crews are out in full force and remind people of advice to swim between red and yellow flags as these areas are monitored.
