A woman who has worked for the NHS for more than five decades has retired.

Pamela Coleman, rota co-ordinator for the urology service at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, celebrated the end of her extraordinary 51-year career last month.

During her service Pamela has worked in a range of administrative roles at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal.

Verity Narcisi, urology operations manager, said: “It was clear to see from Pam’s retirement celebration how well respected and appreciated she is not only by the urology service but also wider teams within the trust.

"Pam’s long service, hard work, and commitment epitomise the true nature of the NHS and we have been extremely lucky to have Pam as part of our team.

"We would like to thank her for her remarkable service and wish her a well-deserved retirement.”

Pamela plans to return to the hospital trust as an outpatient booking clerk for two days a week so she can continue to serve the community.
