Two Sussex residents are celebrating winning over £400,000 each in the Postcode Lottery.

Neighbours in Hassocks are among 555 people in the wider area to scoop a prize in the most recent draw.

The weekly Millionaire Street prize landed in postcode BN6 8JZ, which is Parklands Road. Both winners in that street, who chose to remain anonymous, won £408,990.

The rest of the winners live in the BN6 8 postcode area and took home smaller prizes ranging from £286 to £1,144.

It comes after a group of neighbours in Selsey near Chichester also won their own share of £1 million earlier this year.

Postcode Lottery’s Danyl Johnson said: “Congratulations to the two players who have won life-changing amounts of money.

“Their joy will be shared by hundreds of their neighbours who are also Millionaire Street winners this week.”

As well as the jackpot winners, £50,000 from the Postcode Lottery has been donated to Age Concern in Hassocks.

The chief executive of the charity said the unexpected funding boost was “quite unbelievable”, adding: “We lose around £50,000 a year so this will enable us to do the things needed to make us more sustainable.

“We’re going to put solar panels on the roof and replace our old gas ovens with electric so that we can create the energy we then use.”

Four other charities in the area - Mid Sussex Voluntary Action, Hurst Festival, Social Innovation for All and The Sussex Harmonisers – all took home a share of £80,000 as part of the lottery too.
