Experts have warned vulnerable people could die due to the recent spell of hot weather.
Hospitals, carers and local authorities have been told to prepare for "significant impacts" as the scorching heatwave enters its fifth day.
The UK's Health Security Agency and Met Office issued a yellow alert for the increased risk to vulnerable people in what meteorologists predict will be 27-degree heat today.
A statement issued by the two organisations said those aged above 65, or with health conditions, are more likely to feel the effects - but younger people could also be impacted.
It said temperatures in hospitals and care homes could be so hot that clinical risk assessments would not be passed.
