Elderly residents have been targeted by scammers posing as council workers.
Arun District Council said people claiming to be from the council are knocking on doors across Rustington and Littlehampton demanding money for cutting grass.
It has now issued an urgent warning and urged people not to give any money to these people.

Residents are being asked to pass on the message to anyone who could be vulnerable and fall victim to the scam.
A spokesman for the council said: "We are aware that individuals in Rustington and Littlehampton are knocking on doors of elderly residents saying they’re from Arun District Council and demanding money to have their grass cut.
"This is not the council. We would never demand money at your door for grass cutting on our land.
"Please share this with your family, friends and neighbours who may be vulnerable to this activity. Please report any incidents of this type to the police."
