A new defibrillator has been installed in a village.

Headway Sussex has had the lifesaving equipment set up at its Newick premises, near Lewes.

The device delivers electric shocks to the heart when people are in cardiac arrest and can save lives by restoring a normal heart rhythm.

It can be used by members of the public until paramedics arrive and is accessible to anyone in the surrounding area.

Ian Foster, CEO at Headway Sussex, said: "Our mission at Headway Sussex has always been centred around supporting individuals with brain injuries and their families in their journey towards recovery and rehabilitation.

"However, ensuring their safety and wellbeing is equally paramount.

"The installation of this defibrillator reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a secure environment for all who walk through our doors.

"We recognise the importance of being prepared for any medical emergency and the presence of a defibrillator significantly enhances our ability to respond swiftly and effectively.

"This initiative underscores our dedication to fostering a safe and supportive environment for everyone associated with Headway Sussex."

The defibrillator can be found outside the Headway Sussex office in Jackies Lane.
