Thousands flocked to the coast to cool off from the blazing 28-degree heat today.
Brighton beach was packed with sunbathers hoping for a golden tan this afternoon with businesses doing a roaring trade selling cold drinks and ice cream.
Elsewhere in the city people took shade under trees and explored the North Laine for a break from the bustling beach.
Car parks were full and queues formed outside with drivers hoping to bag a space before it starts to cool off into the evening.
