A boy who was filmed hanging off the back of a bus while holding a toy knife has been given a stern telling off by police officers who visited his home.

The video of the 14-year-old went viral on social media, garnering more than 1 million views.

But Sussex Police launched an investigation and tracked him down.

Officers turned up at his front door earlier this week and gave him - and his parents - some strong words of advice.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "We can confirm the item in his possession was a plastic toy; not a knife. Our investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the incident is ongoing."

The footage shows the hooded youth clinging onto the rear engine door of a Brighton bus in North Street, on route 79 towards Ditchling Beacon.
