Residents have been making the most of the Sussex sun at events up and down the coast as well as basking in the hot weather this weekend.

Thousands of people descended on Brighton, Bognor and Worthing for a weekend of sun with car shows, concerts and fireworks.

The summer weekend comes as residents continue to make the most of the good weather – with temperatures set to soar again next week.

In Worthing, residents took in the Worthing Lions Summer Festival, kicking off the event with late-night fireworks on Saturday evening.

The festivities continued on Sunday including classic cars and vintage buses descending on Steyne Gardens.

Dozens of buses lined up along the seafront for people to admire while scores of vintage cars, hot rods and American police cars parked in the gardens to the delight of festivalgoers.

A sea of gazebos also popped up across Marine Parade with residents admiring the stalls.

In Brighton, beachgoers clambered on the beach to sit and relax and enjoy the sun.

Residents and tourists also filled The Lanes as the narrow shopping streets were filled with people popping into stores.

In Bognor, hundreds of people also enjoyed displays by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service at their annual open day.

Revellers watched as firefighters tackled flames, dismantled cars and showed off their kit at the fire station in West Meads Drive.

The swathes of people enjoying the good weather come as the temperatures are expected to soar again this week in another mini heatwave.

Temperatures in Brighton are expected to continue climbing in the next few days, peaking at 28 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The hot weather is expected to continue into next weekend, keeping above 20 degrees into the weekend.

The South coast has already been hit by a mini heatwave this month as temperatures across Brighton, Worthing and Crawley soared to nearly 30 degrees just two weeks ago.
