A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash on the A23 which saw a car overturn.
The driver of a Mini was arrested by Sussex Police after the three-car smash which closed the road for over an hour on Friday evening.
It comes as another person involved in the crash was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Mini has been bailed.
A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed that the driver, a 34-year-old man from Staffordshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.
The force said: “A driver has been arrested in connection with a three-vehicle collision which occurred on the A23 southbound, near Hickstead, about 7.22pm on Friday 26 July.
“One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
“The driver of a Mini Clubman – a 34-year-old man from Staffordshire – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.
“He has been released on conditional bail until 26 October as enquiries continue.
“The other vehicles involved were a Ford Focus and a Kia Venga.”
The crash on the A23 closed the road for over an hour as National Highways closed the road due to the “very serious” incident shortly after 8pm on Friday, July 26.
The road was closed between the A272 near Bolney and the A273 near Pyecombe.
The road was re-opened at roughly 9pm.
