A dog was run over and killed by a car on seafront lawns.
The dachshund was struck on Hove Lawns shortly before 12pm on Friday, July 26.
The incident happened near the Hove Lawns Café and involved a blue BMW 1 Series.
The dog was rushed to the vets but died of its injuries. Sussex Police have seized the car involved and are investigating.
Inspector Alexandra Bailey said: “We understand the significant distress this incident has caused to the dog’s owners – and the wider public – and our enquiries to identify the driver of the vehicle are ongoing.
“We know there were a large number of people in the area around that time, and we’re urging anyone who can assist in our investigation to please come forward."

The car, which has been seized, was unregistered and uninsured and the driver is yet to be traced.
Anyone who saw what happened, or captured it on mobile, dash cam or CCTV, is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 573 of 26/07.
