Caravans which took over swathes of a seafront have now been dispersed.
Dozens of motorhomes were seen leaving Hove Lawns this afternoon having parked up alongside beach huts yesterday.
Earlier today Sussex Police said they were monitoring the “unauthorised encampment”.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police were called to a report of an unauthorised encampment off Kingsway Court, Queens Gardens, Hove shortly after 7pm on Thursday.
"Officers, alongside partners, will continue to monitor the situation.
"The public are encouraged to report any crime or suspicious activity to us online or by calling 101.
“Always call 999 in an emergency.”
A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: “We are aware of the unauthorised encampment on Hove Lawns and our traveller liaison team will be visiting the site alongside Sussex Police.
“Part of the visit will include a health and welfare assessment of households within the group and a discussion on next steps.
“We will work with Sussex Police and the group to find a suitable resolution as soon as possible.”
Sussex Police officers then visited the camp and the caravans are now gone.
