New free public Wi-Fi could be installed on a popular beach.
Chichester District Council has submitted plans for electrical company North to bring three six-metre installations on and around Selsey Beach as part of the Connected Space Wi-Fi pilot programme.
The council said the proposed equipment will mean that visitors and traders will have better connectivity along the seafront, which could prompt economic growth and activity.

This is part of the programme's aim to support businesses and improve the experience of visitors in outdoor settings.
KS Town Planning, on behalf of North, said: "The Connected Spaces Wi-Fi Pilot aims to focus on rural/semi-rural outdoor settings like parks, market town centres, and seafronts, to deliver Wi-Fi in selected locations across the county where mobile connectivity is poor or requires improvement.
"The aim is to support businesses to survive, grow, and thrive, encouraging innovation, and leading to an improved customer experience for visitors, which in turn could increase footfall within the chosen areas, thus boosting the local economy.
"Additionally, well-connected spaces deliver social, leisure and wellbeing benefits too. "
If the plans are approved, Chichester District Council, along with West Sussex County Council, will measure the impacts that the improved connectivity has on the area, businesses, and visitors as part of this pilot scheme.
If the equipment provides positive benefits, it is likely more planning applications will be submitted for this equipment to be installed in other areas across the county.
Since the plans were made public this month, only one objection has been made against the plans, which would also see one of these new installations put up near a park close to the beach.
A man who lives in Selsey said: "Utter waste of money. Most people already have internet-capable mobile phones.
"Six metre-high masts will spoil the park and pond and if someone's spending their time in the park looking at their phone, then they're missing the point of being there. May as well stay at home."
A final decision on the plans is set to be made by Chichester District Council by October 14.
