Hot temperatures are set to hit Sussex next week – with experts warning that some people could be at risk.
A yellow heat health warning has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency after the Met Office predicted that temperatures could soar above 25 degrees for much of next week.
Temperatures could peak as high as 28 degrees in the middle of next week with similar weather expected across Sussex.
The UKHSA announced that the heat health alert would be in place from 9am on Monday, July 29, until Wednesday, July 31, at 11pm.
The heatwave is expected to peak in Brighton at around 3pm on July 31, when temperatures will hit 28 degrees.
The forecast comes after the last mini-heatwave which swept the county just a week ago.
A UKHSA spokesman said there was the “potential for significant impacts” across the county.
This could include an increase in mortality rates across the population, but particularly in residents aged over 65.
Temperatures in Brighton will begin to climb on Sunday before peaking from Monday to Wednesday.
The hot weather is expected to last until at least next Friday, where temperatures remain at highs of 24 degrees.
