Empty floors above a phone shop in the city centre will be turned into housing.
Brighton and Hove City Council has approved plans for the three storeys above Brighton Repair Centre in North Street, Brighton, to be converted into two flats.
The floors have been empty since August 2022, with Lewis and Co Planning, on behalf of Abbey Commercial Ltd, arguing that the space would be "better served as residential accommodation" than it would retail space.
It said this is because of the current housing shortage across the city.

The first floor is set to become home to a two-bedroom flat.
This will have an open-plan living and dining room area to the front of the property, with the bedrooms at the rear.
The second and third floor would then be occupied by the proposed one-bedroom flat.
The ground floor store will not be impacted by the changes and no external alterations to the building will be needed.
The plans were given prior approval by Brighton and Hove City Council on Wednesday.
