Fire crews rescued a dog from a kitchen fire in a residential area.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a kitchen fire at a property in Manor Road, Hurstpierpoint, at 2.03pm. 

Four fire engines were on scene and firefighters used breathing apparatus to enter the property.

The fire was extinguished using hose reels and jets although two fire crews remain at the scene to damp the building down.

A dog was rescued from the property and reunited with its owner.

All people were accounted for and there were no injuries, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service reported.

Manor Road and the adjoining Manor Gardens were closed during the incident and remain shut.
