A new apartment hotel could open above a town centre beauty store.
The proposed development above the Superdrug shop in Montague Street, Worthing, will comprise 33 apartments if plans are approved.
The first floor would offer a mix of commercial premises and hotel use.
A second and a third floor will then be added to make space for more of these hotel apartments.

In the plans submitted to Adur and Worthing Councils, planning consultants Tor and Co said the accommodation will comprise of various size suites with bedrooms, bathrooms, living room areas and small kitchenettes.
The aparthotel will have a digital check-in system and the only staff on site will be housekeeping.
The new facility would have no impact on Superdrug.
A spokesman for Tor and Co, the agent representing the applicant, said: "The aparthotel will play a pivotal role in enhancing the local tourism economy.
"By not having a restaurant or a bar, it will encourage guests to frequent hospitality venues within the town centre.
"By offering high-quality accommodation, it will attract a diverse range of visitors, including business travellers, tourists and longer-stay guests.
"This influx of visitors will therefore have a significant positive impact on local businesses such as restaurants, shops and entertainment venues, leading to increased revenue and job creation.
"The presence of the aparthotel will also stimulate further investment in the area, encouraging the development of complementary services and infrastructure.
"This will not only improve the overall attractiveness of the town centre but also reinforce its reputation as a vibrant and dynamic destination."
The aparthotel will have no parking facilities and will be mainly used for short stays.
Adur and Worthing Councils will decide whether to approve the plans by October 22 after a consultation period.
