Girls Aloud have promised an “extra special show” for their set at Brighton and Hove Pride.

The girl group will headline the annual celebration’s fundraising festival Fabuloso in Preston Park on August 3.

It follows the band’s reunion tour this year which saw touching tributes to late bandmate Sarah Harding, who died of cancer in 2021.

Speaking to LGBTQ+ magazine Attitude, the band, made up of Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, and Cheryl, said: “The LGBTQ+ community has always shown such love to Girls Aloud and that love is mutual.”

“The show is going to have a few surprises. We’ve added some songs that we didn’t perform on the tour that we’re doing just for Brighton Pride. Of course the show will also still include all the big hits that we’ve loved singing on the road this year.

“When we were putting the show together we knew we had to add some extra special moments as it’s an extra special show.”

Billy Porter and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose smash hit Murder on the Dancefloor had a second wind in the charts thanks to its inclusion in the film Saltburn, will also take to the main stage on Saturday.

Mika, best known for hits including Grace Kelly and Big Girl, will headline on Sunday and will be joined by S-Club and Gabrielle.

Other performers include RuPaul's Drag Race UK series four winner Danny Beard, House Gospel Choir and Beth McCarthy.

There will also be over 150 LGBTQ+ artists across 12 different stages and areas of entertainment over the two-day event.

And in addition to the main-stage Fabuloso will continue to host an additional array of diverse and inclusive stages and entertainment zones across the park including the Pride Dance Tent, Beefmince Dance Tent, Cabaret Big Top, Diva Dance Tent, Polyglamorous, the Cocoa Butter Club Stage, Queertown and more.

Pride will return to the city on August 2 until August 5.

The much-loved Brighton and Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Community Day Parade will open the weekend under this year’s theme of Joy: celebrating life, spirit, and resilience.
