People have been warned to stay out of a lake as dangerous bacteria have been found.
Arun District Council has reported that “high levels of E.coli and Enterococci” have been found in Mewsbrook Lake, Littlehampton, and has warned dog owners to keep their pets away.
On Tuesday, the council posted safety advice on social media, advising people that the lake “cannot be used for boating” due to poor water quality and asking them to keep dogs on leads.
It has now confirmed that potentially deadly bacteria have been found in the lake.

“We're working to determine the source of the bacteria, but it is very likely something outside of our control.
“Please keep dogs out of the water.”
