A police tent has been erected in a quiet residential area after a young man died.
Officers were called to the playing fields in Ifield Green, near Crawley this morning after a member of the public reported concerns for a man's welfare.
The man in his 20s was found shortly before 7.30am and paramedics tried to resuscitate him with CPR.
Despite their best efforts the man, who is from the area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police were called following concerns for the welfare of a man at Ifield Green Playing Field in Crawley shortly before 7.30am on Tuesday, July 23.
"Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics who commenced CPR, the man – in his 20s and from the local area – was sadly pronounced deceased.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and his next of kin have been informed. This will now be a matter for the coroner."
