A top-storey flat in a Grade II building will be turned into a house in multiple occupation (HMO).
The plans for the home in Waterloo Street, Brighton, were approved by Brighton and Hove City Council on Monday.
In the proposals, BeforeBricks Limited, on behalf of the current flat owner, said no physical changes to the structure or façade will be needed.

The entrance and layout of the building internally and externally is set to remain the same with the HMO comprising of three bedrooms.
A spokesman for BeforeBricks Limited said: "The current design and access arrangements are fully compatible with the proposed change of use and do not compromise the architectural or historic value of the property.
"The entrance to the flat, situated on the ground floor, will remain as is, ensuring that the usability and accessibility of the building are preserved without necessitating physical alterations.
"This approach aligns with the overarching strategy to maintain the existing character and functionality of the building while accommodating a change in use that is sensitive to the heritage context."
