When a Sussex lavender farm opens for one week in July, people flock from all over the county to see it in its purple splendour.

Lordington Farm in Chichester, the only lavender farm operating in West Sussex, welcomed visitors earlier this month including Camera Club snapper Nicky Smith.

As well as gorgeous snaps of the pristine fields, Nicky also captured some beautiful portraits.

She brought a rainbow umbrella and used it as a prop to add even more colour to her snaps.

One of her subjects looked spectacular with their bright blue curly hair against the sea of purple.

Nicky also captured one of the hundreds of bees which are able to visit the fields all throughout the summer to pollinate its plants.

During the open week, visitors were invited to walk among the fields and listen to talks about the lavender.

Ice cream, tea, cakes and Pimms were available and there were tractors and hay bales around the farm and opportunities for photo sessions like the one Nicky held.

The family-run farm is only open to the public for one week a year - we are looking forward to July 2025 already!
