Police have tried to reassure the public after two women said they were threatened by a machete-waving teenage duo.
One of the women dialled 999 to report being threatened with a weapon through her car window while parked up in East Grinstead.
Police took statements from the women in the Lower East Court Car Park and an investigation was launched. Two 15-year-old boys, from East Grinstead, have since been arrested.
One was arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and possession of a weapon in a public place.
The other was arrested on suspicion of common assault and attempted criminal damage after the reported incident on July 5, at around 10.20pm.
Sergeant Darius Caldwell said: "We would like to reassure the public that enquiries are ongoing, and since the report, targeted patrols have been taking place in the area.”
“If you have information to report in relation to the investigation, we ask you to contact police.”
People can tell the police what they know online or by calling 101, quoting reference 1294 of 05/07.
