People clapped and cheered as firefighters rescued a pigeon.
West Street in Brighton had to be closed while emergency services dealt with the bird, which was entangled in nets on top of 19 Boyce's Street.
A crowd gathered to watch the drama unfold and onlookers cheered when the pigeon was eventually freed - with one passerby describing the scene as "heartwarming".
Brighton and Hove Wildlife Rescue, came away largely unscathed with minor injuries to its wings.
The pigeon, who was handed into the care ofA fire service spokesman said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 6.43pm to reports of a trapped animal on West Street, Brighton.
"One appliance and an aerial ladder platform were in attendance. Crews use small cutting equipment to free a trapped pigeon from netting.”
