Firearms officers swarmed to a residential road after a man was seen with a suspected gun.

Crawley Police said officers were sent to an address in Walnut Lane, Langley Green, on Tuesday night and arrested five men.

They have all been taken to police custody.

One of the men was arrested for possession of a fireman and the other four were detained on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

No one was harmed during the incident and police officers remain in the area to reassure residents.

A spokesman for Crawley Police said on Tuesday: "We quickly deployed firearms officers to an address in Langley Green this evening after a report of a man seen with a suspected firearm.

"Five men were swiftly and safely arrested at the scene in Walnut Lane and have been taken to police custody including one for possession of a firearm and the other four detained on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

"No one was harmed and enquiries are ongoing. Our officers remain in the area for reassurance. Please speak to them if you have any concerns."
