Free and discounted tickets for people living near Pride festivities have been released by event bosses - and here's how you can get your hands on one.

Residents or tourists staying near the main events can apply for complimentary tickets from event organisers who hope to maintain a good relationship with the community.

Hundreds of thousands of revellers will descend on Brighton's streets this August for the city's annual Pride event - with huge festivals in both Preston Park and Kemp Town.

For people living nearby, roads and businesses will be shut for the event weekend on August 3 and 4, causing severe disruption while the party takes over.

Counter-terrorism police also set up positions on rooftops and install heavy barriers to keep a watchful eye over the crowds.

A spokesman for Pride said: "Our aim, as always, is to run a safe, well-managed event while ensuring that all residents have access to and from their homes, businesses, and venues during the time that the event is taking place."
