Brighton and Hove City Council reported that the i360 is one of the most visited paid-for attractions in the city, drawing in 1,879,000 visitors between August 2016 and January 2023.
The tower has faced a range of issues, with British Airways pulling their sponsorship and naming rights in 2022.
The i360 has previously experienced malfunctions which shut the attraction, including one incident which left a group of people trapped inside a pod for two hours.
A spokeswoman for the i360 said: "Brighton i360 Viewing Pod is currently closed due to unscheduled maintenance.
"We are likely to remain closed until early next week. Customers with pre-booked tickets will be contacted by a member of our customer service team."
