A man was rescued from the wreckage of a car that crashed into a wall near a school.

Sussex Police and West Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to London Road, Bognor, following a single vehicle crash at around 11.30pm yesterday, July 12.

Pictures show police cars, fire engines and an ambulance in attendance at the scene, with a badly damaged car off the road.

A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Sussex Police said.

The crash occurred near Edward Bryant School.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 11.35pm on Friday, July 12, to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on London Road in Bognor Regis.

"Joint Fire Control mobilised two fire engines from Bognor Regis Fire Station to the scene along with the heavy rescue tender from Chichester.

"Upon arrival they found a vehicle that had collided with a wall. Firefighters extricated one person from the vehicle.

"The last crew left the scene at 12.52am."
