A Wimpy superfan is visiting every branch in the UK to raise funds for a cancer charity.

Anthony Zupnik, 36, fell in love with the fast-food franchise on a trip to one in Worthing for his fifth birthday.

From that moment on, Anthony, a software developer from Angmering, became Wimpy’s "biggest fan".

In honour of his life-long obsession, he has embarked on a 2,400-mile tour of all 64 branches in the UK.

Anthony, whose favourite Wimpy meal is a quarter pounder and chips, said: “It was brilliant to revisit my hometown Wimpys and the tour so far is going really well. I’ve had a fantastic reception from all of the owners and workers.

“I am determined to prove I am Wimpy’s biggest fan and to raise as much money as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust, so that they can help many more young people with cancer.”

Anthony visited the Worthing and Littlehampton branches on July 8 and 9 in the second week of his challenge.

He has ordered the same meal for 30 years but has endeavoured to push the boat out and try as many items on the menu as possible.

The tour is not only a tribute to his love for the chain but also to fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 22.

Anthony underwent surgery to remove a lump and months of chemotherapy while receiving care and support from one of Teenage Cancer Trust’s 28 specialist units.

He said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust nurses on the unit were incredible, so supportive – they made a tough time feel as OK as it could.

“I was a bit reclusive by the time treatment ended but they helped me rebuild my confidence by organising for me to go on adventure holidays and to make friends with other young people with cancer so that I didn’t feel so alone.

“That made a big difference to me.

“I’ll be forever grateful to the charity and this challenge sees me combine my love for Wimpy with my love for Teenage Cancer Trust.”
