A woman has died after being hit by a car on a residential road.
Emergency services were called to Davigdor Road, Hove, at 12.20am this morning after a car hit a pedestrian.
Following efforts from paramedics, the 40-year-old woman from Hove was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.
A 28-year-old man has since been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving a vehicle without insurance and a driving licence.

He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
The road was closed in the early hours of the morning but has now been reopened.
Police erected fences to cordon off the scene.
Sussex Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision or with footage to contact them by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk or by calling 101 referencing Operation Divan.
