The ambulance service is looking for volunteers to take on the role of community first responders (CFR).

The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) wants people to volunteer to be the first on the scene in incidents across the county.

They will be trained to respond to emergencies and will be able to deliver care to people before ambulance crews arrive.

SECAmb is looking for applicants who can volunteer a minimum of 20 hours each month and commit to a minimum of two-years.

After training, volunteers will receive a Level 3 First Responder on Scene (FROS) qualification.

More information can be found at https://www.secamb.nhs.uk/join-us/community-first-responders/.

People can also join the "volunteer to career pathway" which means if they volunteer for at least four hours a week for 18 months they will be guaranteed an interview for paid frontline roles.

SECAmb head of community engagement David Wells said: “We are extremely proud of our volunteer CFRs who make a huge difference to the communities they serve.

“We’re really keen to hear from people with the right attributes to take on this role supporting our frontline services. I’d encourage anyone interested to find out more and consider applying for this challenging but highly-rewarding role.”
