Aldi could open a new store in a historic town.
The discount supermarket has set its sights on Rye as part of a redevelopment programme which is set to include a new retirement block and homes.
The store would be built on land in Winchelsea Road if the plans are approved.

This would mean the existing warehouse buildings at the site would need to be demolished.
As well as the store, Aldi Stores Limited said there will be a sufficient sized car park with 107 spaces in total for shoppers to use.
This includes seven disabled barking bays, nine parent and child spaces, and four electric vehicle charging spots.
There will also be space for visitors to store their bikes.
A spokesman for Aldi said the new store could also create up to 50 new jobs in the community if the plans are approved.
Rother District Council will make a decide on the plans by September 5.
