A vegetarian cafe will close its doors after two and a half years in a prime location.

T @ Hove, a coffee shop selling vegan and vegetarian cakes, food and even cocktails, in Western Road on the corner of Lansdowne Place, will close on Sunday.

The Hove cafe also has a branch in Seven Dials and provides the food at The Prince George pub in Trafalgar Street,  Brighton.

Announcing the closure on its Facebook page, a T@ spokesman said:  "To all our loyal customers, its with sadness we are closing the doors on our Hove Branch, T@ Hove.

"We have been fighting the impact of the cost of living crisis for the last 12 months but unfortunately we can no longer weather the storm.

"The T@ family are all totally devastated, having worked tirelessly for the last two and a half years to build a fabulous place to visit.

"For those that can, come say hello at our other sites."

Customers expressed their sadness at the news.

Manuella Jasmine said: "This is really sad, I love this place. Though it's not very well signed from the street and doesn't have level access, so maybe not the best location for them.

"I hope they can open another Hove branch."

Mathew Dale added: "This is such a shame. So many small places are closing around us. Good luck for the future to all the staff there, they're all so lovely."

"Sad news for Hove," said Andy Bass. "I can however recommend the Seven Dials site, now my go to breakfast spot, the food, coffee and smoothies are great."

Jane Black added: "I'm so sorry to hear this. You always seem so busy so this comes as a real shock. The jerk pitta will remain forever in my heart . You will really be missed."

It comes after Mikel Coffee in Western Road closed earlier this year.

Mikel’s is a Greek coffee brand which first set up in Larissa in 2008 and came to Brighton in 2020 on the sight of a former bank.
