A former police officer has been charged with assault following an incident with a member of the public.
Adam Burke, 29, has received the charge in connection with an incident in Brighton in December 2023, when force was alleged to have been used on a member of the public.
Burke was on duty as a Sussex Police officer at the time.

He resigned from his position as a Police Constable in that same month.
The matter was investigated by the force Professional Standards department who will also consider misconduct proceedings once the criminal proceedings have concluded.
Burke will appear before Guildford Magistrates’ Court today.
