A van driver escaped with only suspected leg fractures after a dramatic smash into a tree at a roundabout.
Parts of the tree could be seen wedged in the vehicle's mangled engine bay after the collision at around 11.30pm last night.
Police were called to the Blue Star roundabout in Angmering where they found the van crumpled in front of the tree. Its windscreen and front end were severely damaged and part of the tree was uprooted.
Paramedics were called to take the driver to hospital.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "A vehicle was in collision with a tree. The driver was taken to hospital with suspected leg fractures.
"Any witnesses should report it online or via 101 quoting serial 1376 of 06/07."
