A member of staff from the Conservatoire at the University of Chichester said: “Huge congratulations to our theatre graduate Jess Brown-Fuller on being elected to parliament as our new MP for Chichester.

"Studying the arts has so many invaluable transferable skills. Our students and graduates are able to work with other people, communicate clearly, find creative and imaginative ways around problems, and be adaptable.

"They have confidence, presence, care about the world around them and understand how access to art provision changes lives."

Ms Brown-Fuller won the seat for Chichester with a total of 25,540 votes at the General Election on Thursday.

Gillian Keegan, the previous MP for the constituency who represented the Conservatives, received 13,368 votes.
