Peter Kyle has retained his seat in Hove and Portslade after a remarkable night for the Labour Party.
He has held the seat since 2015 and retains a large majority.
Turnout was 70.42 per cent, a fall from 2019’s 76.09 per cent.
Mr Kyle is expected to be part of Sir Keir Starmer’s frontbench.
He was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology in 2023.
His party has won the General Election by a landslide.
Mr Kyle said: "I would like to thank everybody who worked on this campaign to make it a safe and fair election."
He spoke about his father’s recent death and said he knew his dad would be proud of him.
"It has been the privilege of my life to give our community a voice in parliament," he added.
