East Worthing and Shoreham has elected its first Labour MP.
Former Lambeth councillor Tom Rutland won the seat with 22,126 votes.
Conservative Leila Williams got 12,601 votes.
The seat has been held since 1997 by Conservative Tim Loughton, who earlier this year announced he would be standing down.
Mr Rutland, 32, who lives in Lancing, beat off competition from Conservative candidate Leila Williams.
