Motorists faced long delays on the way home as a wide load blocked a main road.
The load, which the driver said was a school building, prevented traffic from moving on the A27 on Tuesday afternoon, during school and work rush hours.
There were long tailbacks as the load got stuck on the A27 eastbound between the Arundel Road and Salvington Hill in Durrington, near Worthing.
Police were called to the scene and escorted the vehicle away.
