A "shining-light" Hove venue has been named among the best restaurants with rooms according to a new list.

The Ginger Pig on Hove Street was Sussex's only representative on the list from Conde Nast Traveller.

Discussing the creation of the list the publication wrote: "The past decade has seen the evolution of Britain’s inns. Now a stay in the countryside is a sensitively seasoned experience as chefs serve up locally rooted feasts attached to cutting-edge sleepovers.

"From a 17th-century farmhouse in Kent, to a former blacksmith’s workshop in Cumbria, here are the UK’s most exciting restaurants-with-rooms."

The full list of the best UK restaurants with rooms can be found on the Conde Nast Traveller website here.

What was said about The Ginger Pig?

The Ginger Pig was highly praised for its food offerings as well as its 11 "smartly informal rooms" with a sleek finish.

Conde Nast Traveller wrote: "Every town needs its shining-light restaurant and The Ginger Pig is just that in Hove.

"Ben and Pamela McKellar, owners of the Gingerman group, have always kept things understated here, trusting that the selling point was a full house of very satisfied diners.

"But now the look is a little sleeker with a ground-floor bar in shiny brass and white marble and 11 smartly informal rooms above."

The menu is said to be one which "cleverly juggles crowd-pleasers with more cheffy head-turners".

Alongside that, it was commended for its "cleverly considered touches" in its rooms, such as having ice delivered to them each evening and having raffia baskets with beach towels and mats included in the summer.

It adds: "For more than a decade the food at The Ginger Pig has been a compelling reason to scoot across from Brighton.

"Now there’s an excuse to stay over, with pre-mixed cocktails in the minibars and Cowshed bottles by the standalone bath tubs."

The Ginger Pig has been well-received by diners with a 4.5/5 score on Tripadvisor from 1,280 reviews.

One person wrote: "Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here after staying over the night before. Really nicely cooked, pink beef, lovely roasties and Yorkshires. Highly recommended. Lovely staff and venue. Thank you."

Another shared: "Outstanding customer service from the moment you pass through the doors. Such friendly and highly attentive wait staff without being overbearing - they got the balance just right.
