A popular lido has closed for filming to take place.
Saltdean Lido is closed today and tomorrow for filming of a television series based on long-time Brighton resident Nick Cave’s Death of Bunny Munro novel. The six-part series written by Pete Jackson and directed by Isabella Eklöf has been filming around Sussex this summer.
While the pool and cafe will be closed for these 2 days, season ticket holders have been granted access to swim between 7am and 9am on both days. All other rooms besides the pool and cafe will be opening, allowing members to continue as normal in the gym and exercise classes.
In an email to their members, it was stated that it had been “chosen as a location for a large-scale film production shoot” and this would result in “significant financial incentives”, allowing it to reinvest in “facilities, equipment, programme and staff”.
The series is being filmed for Sky Original and features Matt Smith, notable for his roles in Doctor Who, the Crown and House of Dragon. As well as starring in the series as Bunny Munro, Smith will work as an executive producer alongside musician and songwriter Nick Cave.
The series is expected to air in 2025.
