A man has denied smashing another man’s car with a hammer and threatening to kill him in a racially aggravated attack.

Jordan Jupp is accused of shouting words to the effect of “f***ing foreigners, we’re going to kill you lot” before attacking the car with a hammer.

Jupp, 27, of Henfield Way in Hove, denies the charges.

A hearing at Brighton Magistrates Court heard the man was waiting outside a barber's shop in Hangleton Way, Hove, when his car was shunted by a white van. Two men stepped out and were “very aggressive”.

The man was allegedly threatened with violence, with one of his attackers reportedly shouting “f***ing foreigners, we’re going to kill you lot”.

The man then reportedly attacked the man’s car with a hammer before leaving the scene.

Jupp pleaded not guilty to criminal damage, racially aggravated harassment and possessing an offensive weapon in public.

His solicitor said he had been misidentified.

Jupp was granted unconditional bail to appear before Lewes Crown Court on July 25.
