An investigation is under way following concern for the welfare of a boy.
Police were called to Broadwater Road, Worthing, at about 3.30pm on Monday.
The boy is unharmed and safe and well with his family and police have not released any more details about the nature of the incident which is believed to be isolated.
There is an increased police presence in the area.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is helping police with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police added: "We are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter."
