Police descended on a residential street following a report of a wanted person.
A large number of police officers and vehicles could be seen in the Ashgate Road/Marsden Road area of Eastbourne yesterday afternoon.
Sussex Police said following a search a 36-year-old man was arrested in Biddenden Close on suspicion of multiple counts of theft.
The force spokesman said: “Police responded to a report of a wanted person at an address in Biddenden Close, Eastbourne, at midday on Friday, June 21.
“After a search, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of shop theft. “He remains in custody at this time.”
